So I’m a day late on my post, but it’s because I was up late working on my “appellate brief.” Now that that’s over, I’ll have about a month of breathing room before things start getting crazy with finals.
So I have some huge (like Bernie Sanders huge) news! FYI- I’m voting for Hillary tomorrow so don’t get any crazy misconceptions, haha! Anyway, I had my appointment with the university therapist, and she officially diagnosed me with gender dysphoria. More importantly, she agreed to write me the letter that I need to start testosterone! Needless to say I’m really excited.
I told my mom and sister. Of course my little sister is 100% supportive. My mom is as supportive as she can be. She’s struggling to get 100% on board, but she’s made so much progress. I’m really proud of how far she’s come. I also told some of my close friends here at school and outside of school. They’re really happy for me so I’m glad that I have a good support system.
I still have my appointment in Atlanta next Tuesday for a doctor who prescribes testosterone for trans guys. I’m hoping to have supper with a buddy of mine who also happens to be trans. It’s really nice to have people to show me the ropes and talk to about this stuff, especially when they actually know what I’m talking about.
Side note: I didn’t get the Lambda Legal internship. They were looking for someone with more experience. They did encourage me to apply again next year, which is nice. I did however get an interview with Atlanta Legal Aid, and it went really well! Apparently they were impressed with the fact that I approached their executive director when he was giving a presentation at UGA and asked for an interview. I knew missing all that recess for talking too much would pay off some day!
Hope y’all have a good week!
All the best,
