Well I finally have an appointment with a therapist set up. February 25 is the day! If all goes to plan I will have my letter by spring break and will be able to have my first endocrinologist appointment. My therapist acted like it will be alright for me to go ahead and make an appointment. I found someone who takes my insurance in Atlanta from a trans website. I might keep to keep looking around, but I need to make the appointment this week so I can be sure to be seen over spring break. This is exciting stuff!
I’m a little hesitant to write about this since so many people are stressing out about it and don’t want to hear about other people’s job prospects. But, this is going to be my first job since coming out so I think that it’s important for me to write about this.
I had a phone interview with Lambda Legal on Friday. If you don’t know anything about them you should take the time to look them up. Lambda has been a driving force in some of the biggest LGBTQ legal decisions since they started over 40 years ago. Needless to say I was pretty excited when I found out that I got an interview. I was also pretty nervous, and I’m sure that it was evident when I was talking on the phone. Overall I think I went pretty well. I was pretty disappointed to find out that they usually don’t hire first year law students. Apparently they hire one about every three years. I tried to address that concern by saying that I was ready to work hard, and they shouldn’t automatically count me out. Luckily for me, I got to hang out with the person I interviewed with last weekend. We have a mutual friend that came in from out of the country so we were both at a little potluck for our friend. She said that she was going to give our friend a call for a reference. I hope she does. Regardless, the interview was supposed to be 20 minutes, and it ended up being 40. That seems like a good thing.
I hope everyone has a good week!
All the best,
