Sorry I missed y’all last Sunday. I spent most of the day in Atlanta celebrating my birthday with my mom and sister so when I got back to Athens I had a lot of work to do. We went to Taco Mac for lunch, and then we went to the Center for Civil and Human Rights. If you haven’t been there yet, I highly recommend it. It was very well put together and of course was powerful, sad, inspiring, and hopeful all at the same time. I had a really good time hanging out with the family and am a little bummed that I probably won’t get to see them until the first of March.
On my actual birthday, Monday, I had drinks and supper with friends. I had a really good time… maybe a little too good of a time since I couldn’t manage to make it to my 8:30 Constitutional Law class the next day… whoops.
On Friday I had a meeting with some of the law school administration about getting people’s prefixes right. They are going to try and get an option in the university database for prefixes. Students will be able to choose the one that they use. I even talked to them about getting a gender non-conforming option. I’m glad that they are willing to take steps to fix the problem for me and any future trans students.
I filled out a form this weekend through the Health Initiative so that I can get some financial help with the counseling sessions that I need to get my letter for testosterone. I hope that they will get back to me soon. I sent an email to the LGBT resource center about getting in touch with the therapist at the university health center that does the letters. I’m not sure that I will have time in my schedule to have my first counseling session this week, but I’m hoping that I’ll be able to start next week.
Hope y’all have a good week!
All the best,
